Don’t Miss This Opportunity To Send Your Name To Mars

Most of us dream about boarding a spaceship but very few get the golden opportunity. But National Aeronautics and Space Administration is giving people an opportunity to make their mark on the red planet. But you need to sign up soon for this as only a few hours are left before sign up on the campaign page ends.

Those who want to send their names on the greater cosmos can sign up on the NASA’s campaign page before September 30. Once you sign up, submitted names will be reviewed and approved following which Microdevices Laboratory at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory will etch them on a silicon microchip using an electron beam. The chip will be placed under a glass plate on the Mars 2020 rover

The microchip can hold lines smaller than one-thousandth the width of our single strand of hair, NASA had said in a release. The chip is of the size of a dime can hold millions of names. So far, names of over 9.8 million people have been received under the mission. According to the space agency, an image of the microchip will be uploaded to the mission website after it will be installed in the Mars 2020 rover. The rover is scheduled to be launched by as early as July 2020 and is expected to touch down on the red planet by February 2021. The Mars 2020 mission is aimed to search for signs of past life and study the Mar’s climate, geology and also collect samples and return to its home. The rover will also prepare NASA to send astronauts to explore the planet.
